I saw the programme and sent this mail to the list but it doesn't seem to have made it. I was spitting feathers by the end, as you might have guessed from the tone of this mail
I've just watched a resurrection of the stories about the allegations against Don Revie of match fixing. Thrown in for good measure was mention that Billy Bremner was often used as the good between. The chief accuser in this tale, an obviously down on his luck and very forlorn looking Gary Sprake. The story is that none of his former team mates will talk to him any more because of his part in the 30 year old expose against the Don and Billy, both of whom, the reporter, Damian Henderson omitted to mention have been dead for a very long time and are therefore unable to defend themselves. The report was obviously put together some time ago as the background was Sprake's first return to Elland Road since leaving in the early 70s. The match used as a backdrop was not recent as the crowd looked like a shade over 35000 however another shot showed Sprake sitting in an empty West Stand watching Sullivan warm up. It was very very very obviously a shabby piece of journalism put together to tie into today's interim report into transfers bungs issued by Lord Stephens. The BBC should be ashamed of themselves. Brian Hamilton -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Steve Gillen Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2006 9:54 AM To: LUFC Subject: [LU] LU: From yesterday's News A couple of news items I am surprised no one has commented on... 1) I heard on Radio Leeds on the drive home last night that Alan Curbishley was quoted as saying yesterday, that he has not been contacted by Leeds about the current managerial vacancy, and flattered as he would be by any approach from Leeds he would not be available to work for another 2 weeks anyway. Now I have been a salesman for over 30 years and if that's not a "buying signal" (as in come and get me...) then nothing is - anyone else think the same? 2) Did anyone see the programme on BBC1 last night which featured an section about Gary Sprake and the way he has been snubbed by other Ex Leeds player for 30 years - and similar by the club itself. The programme got in a couple of other people - one of whom was a daily mirror reporter (spit spit) - the segment went on about how Revie used Billy Bremner to offer bribes to other teams to throw games etc etc (we've heard it all before) - As if Leeds has not been pulled apart enough over the years the local BBC are up to it now... Grrrr Comments anyone?
