So are you saying that even if Bates thought Healy was the devil's spawn and
didn't want to ever see him again, it might not actually make any difference
to the eventual sale price?

In other words, factors like the desire to have a player in your side or you
faced competition for his signature might be slightly more relevant?

Hmmmm, I believe you proved my point there..There are lots of factors which
can make a deal go through without the highest bidder winning. In this
particular case it was Bates' stacking the deck, in advance and then
manipulating circumstances to threaten others into thinking his was the only
choice they had..
