Rob, In answer to your question (from the daughter of a friend in her 3rd year of 4 at UCL): Sorry for the late reply but I haven't got the internet in my flat. Holloway. I actually lived on Fairbridge Road in my second year. It depends on which street you live but I would say Holloway is a good place for a student to live. It's not too far from university and it's quite good value for money. There are lots of local shops which tend to cater to a smaller budgets as well. I have ended up walking around Holloway at night and whilst not ideal I felt fairly safe. I have never hear of anything happening to anyone in the area and many of my friends lived close by. There isn't much going on however but you can get to Camden or Islington fairly easily. There are a couple good restaurants along the Holloway Road but fewer nice bars.
