Robert Gallucci said Australia was in a "unique" position to help solve one of the world's biggest problems: safe storage of nuclear waste and plutonium from bombs dismantled at the end of the Cold War. "If Australia could appreciate the concept, and decide it was in the national interest, there would be enormous benefits for the world," he told The Australian. Mr Gallucci is President Bill Clinton's Special Envoy on Weapons of Mass Destruction, and is intimately involved in international efforts to find a secure home for nuclear waste. A diplomat for two decades, he is now also the Dean of the School of Foreign Service at Washington's prestigious Georgetown University. ************************************************************************* This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use." ================================== Leftlink - Australia's Broad Left Mailing List As vilified, slandered and attacked by One Nation mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.alexia.net.au/~www/mhutton/index.html Sponsored by Melbourne's New International Bookshop Subscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=subscribe%20leftlink Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20leftlink
