Here's a topical request made recently to the New International Bookshop
for children's adventure books with a peace message.
Please forward us your ideas, and the age level the books are pitched at.
It would be a great help if you also specified author, title, publisher,
year of publication.
I will send out a message with the combined responses.

Do you know of any stories for kids that are about how to create peace
(non-violently) rather than about about how the good guys go about winning
wars? I realised a few days ago how much my imagination has been limited
when I found that I had accepted the NATO action with very little
scepticism. The thought about peace making stories is also prompted by
having no adventure stories to read Daniel that deal with aggression
without violence being a major part of the solution.
I think most cultures are afflicted with the lack of powerful peace making
myths. Has anyone tried to create new myths to fill the vacuum?
Do you have any ideas how I could find some appropriate books for Daniel
(and me!) ? Does the New International Bookshop have anything?
