Tuesday may be demolition day for the house at 1 Sussex Street that we are
trying to stop McDonalds demolishing. At 10am Tuesday the Industrial
Relatinos Commission will hear an application by McDonalds to have the CMFEU
lift its ban on th site. The application was adjourned last Friday but we
are not confident that the same result will happen this time. McDonalds will
get the contractor to attempt demolition as soon as the order is given by
the IRC which will probably be around 11.00am.

As absurd as it sounds, McDonalds who no longer have a valid planning
permit cannot commence building the restaraunt even if they can knock down
the house. Their application to extend the permit has been rejected by the
Victorian Civil Administrative tribunal which ironically sits again on 5 May
to consider the fate of the house.

McDonalds are desperate to knock the house down before that date and their
IRC application may mean they get the opportunity to make another attempt.

People power stopped them twice before. Resindets and their supporters have
twice stopped demolition. We need to have as many people as possible at the
site on Tuesday so we ask you to come for lunch starting at 11.00am. Do
lunch and do McDonalds out of any opportunity to knock down our 110 year old
heritage house. We despearely want to celebrate our 24 hour picket's 50th
day on Saturday May 1st and keep the house iuntil the VCAT hearing on 5 May.

The site is at the corner of Bell and Sussex Streets Coburg and you can
catch the West Coburg tram down William Street to get there. Just get off at
the last stop and head east down Bell Street for 3 minutes and yo can't miss
it. Hope to see as many people as possible. For further info contact
Russell on 0418 300 507.
