Unions and the Labour Party are attempting to force the Minister to answer questions in the Federal Court. A spokesman for Peter Reith says the Minister will not be commenting on the latest court proceedings before the Federal Court in Melbourne. Federal Labor MP Lindsay Tanner has filed affidavits under the Freedom of Information Act requiring Mr Reith to release a range of Government consultancy reports circulated in 1997. Mr Tanner and the ACTU believe the reports contain policy advice about the planning of last year's waterfront dispute and how to remove or diminish the power of the Maritime Union. Mr Reith must respond in a month's time, while a hearing is scheduled for late June. ************************************************************************* This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use." -- Leftlink - Australia's Broad Left Mailing List mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.alexia.net.au/~www/mhutton/index.html Sponsored by Melbourne's New International Bookshop Subscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=subscribe%20leftlink Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20leftlink
