Item 3 - INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION (IAP2)
Contact: See item.

The International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) has
established an Australian branch and is hosting a seminar on
consultation on 24 June 1999.

The International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) is a
non-profit corporation whose members seek to promote public
participation in relation to governments, institutions and other
entities that effect the public interest in nations throughout the
world.

IAP2 organises and conducts activities that support the learning needs
of its members, advocates public participation, and provides technical
assistance to improve public participation.

Given the interest of councillors and professional staff across a range
of disciplines in the issue of public participation, the activities of
IAP2 are relevant to Local Government.

The Australian based branch of IAP2 is holding an Evening Seminar
entitled "Current Trends in Community Consultation" on 24 June,
commencing at 5:30pm at the Grace Hotel, 77 York Street, Sydney.

To register for the seminar please contact Jocelyn English on phone (02)
