The Yorta Yorta appeal on their claim for native title will be heard in the
federal court, starting on Wednesday, August 18.

When their original claim was dismissed, the judge told them they had been
"washed away by the tide of history". They're not copping this racist rubbish.

They have asked all sympathetic organisations in Melbourne to show support
in two ways:

1) Rally outside the court, at 305 William St, city, from 9am on the 18th.
Bring banners and placards. Non-indigenous supporters plan to form an
"honour guard" to clap the claimants and community members into the court.

2) Attend a major public meeting on indigenous rights and Australian
injustice. The meeting will be at RMIT's Storey Hall on Swanston St at
7.30pm on Tuesday, August 24. Speakers to be advised.

Leaflets for these events will be ready by the start of next week. If you
can help, please pass leaflets on, tell your organisations, and pass on
this email.

For more details or to get leaflets, ring Ellen during office hours at
Trades Hall on 9662 3511 or David on 0418 316 310.
