Hello all on the Melbourne Mumia list and Left Link It is time for some urgent coordinated action in Melbourne to build the movement to stop the execution of Mumia. The Freedom Socialist Party proposes that we hold a united front Emergency Stop the Execution rally in Melbourne. Given the Mumia solidarity movement is not as big and well developed locally as it is in the U.S., we propose that a little lead time is required to build it. But we don't have much time! Proposed date: Saturday 13 November at noon. Proposed venue: GPO Proposed action: Speak out style protest rally with union movement and Aboriginal movement speakers. That we leaflet shoppers and ask people top sign a stop the execution petition. Also, that we aim to get media coverage, including in the U.S. We would like to work with others to organise this using the Melbourne Millions for Mumia Worldwide name and listing other organisational and individual endorsers. We're doing a mailout this weekend and will include a rally announcement in it if we know that others agree with the thrust of this proposal.. Given the gravity of the situation, we don't want to see several tiny and ineffectual protests when, with a little coordination, the left could work together and do a good job. Get back to us right away with opinions, endorsements etc. We especially need to know RIGHT NOW if any other groups have already started organising something. If they have, speak out now and we can all put our efforts behind any organising which has already commenced. Yours in solidarity Alison Thorne Melbourne Freedom Socialist Party Organiser Ph: 03-9386-5065 PS: What about LeftLinkers in other states organising an action on the same day? Let us know about what's happening in your city. ---------- From: fsprwaus <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "MMW List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Fwd: MUMIA'S DEATH WARRANT SIGNED--DEMONSTRATE!
