WHAT IS HAPPENING?
The squat has been evicted. While Sydney spends mega bucks on the
Olympics, ordinary people are being pushed out by ridiculous rents. Fuck
that.
While residents are in the process of leaving peacefully, this eviction
must be condemned. This situation highlights the reality for many people
who face homelessness. Please come to 'the biscuit' for a last cup of
tea and a PROTEST.
QUICK FACTS
*In the last 10 years, Sydney has experienced an average 200% rise in
the price of houses, and a 40% rise in rents per week.
*The total homeless population of Australia in 1995 was approximately
40,000.
