JOIN AUSTRALIANS AGANIST MANDATORY SENTENCING The genocide issue is a fundamental one in Australia. I sometimes think of Tasmania as 'the genocidal isle" but it can equally be said that Australia is the "genocidal continent". Mandatory sentencing in the Northern Territory, where the lives of First Peoples are disposed of cheaply to protect private property, is a contemporary example of this sickness. Chief Minister Burke - and all his cronies in the NT Cabinet - should be charged with the crime of genocide, along with the Federal politicians who allow this kind of standard to dominate life in the Commonwealth's largest Terrrirory. It is, ultimately, the Prime Minister's responsibility. The Leader of the Federal Opposition has demonstrated as much leadership on this crucial moral issue as a wet rag. Sorry if i offend anyone with this talk, but they should be more offended by recent events in the NT. N.T. See also my long piece at http://homes.arealcity.com/brucer in which i argue the case for an imaginary client.
