In 1970 Chile elected socialist Salvador Allende as President. Allende's
economic program challenged the control of international and domestic
capital, and opened a social experiment never before tested- the
parliamentary road to socialism. Thirty years after his election Ocean Press
has released the first ever Allende reader, including some of his most
important speeches. Speakers reflect on the significance and lessons of the
Chilean experiment.
