The Students Association of the University of South Australia Inc. is the 
preferred supplier to the large student body, of representation and service 
provision, supported by strong commercial operations.  The appointed staff 
work with the elected student representatives towards the goals of the 
organisation.  The Association is now seeking to fill the following position:

                              GENERAL MANAGER

The position of General Manager reports to the Council of the Association 
through the President, who is elected annually.  The successful candidate 
will be expected to provide visionary leadership and direction, effective 
resource management, ensure that the human resources are able to meet the 
present and future needs of the Association and ensure the organisation is 
able to be responsive to the needs and demands of members.

He or she will have completed an appropriate tertiary qualification and may 
have completed a higher degree.  Applicants must be able to bring to the 
position, demonstrably high level knowledge, skills, abilities and previous 
management experience in:

    * a community/member driven organisation;
    * an understanding of student unionism/student Associations within
      the tertiary education sector;
    * implementation of marketing strategies for achievement;
    * enterprise marketing and advocacy;
    * outstanding written and oral communication skills;
    * effective people management, team building and staff development;
    * personal awareness and adaptability;
    * financial management;
    * business management in commercial and service environments.

Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in a 
student union/Association, previous experience within the tertiary 
education sector and with postgraduate qualifications in management/commerce.
