To all those interested or already involved in refugee issues,

the Refugee Action Alliance is a group that had its first meeting in
December last uear. We are a coalition of groups and inviduals dedicated to
reversing the policy of mandatory detention and improving the rights of
refugees and asylum seekers. We are an action focused group that attepts to
provide better communication and co-ordinaation between refugee activists.
Our next meeting will be on Saturday, 3rd of February at 2pm in the Evatt
Room at Trades Hall Council, 54 Victoria St., Carlton South.

In the last couple of weeks members of the group have been involved in the
action at the Maribyrnong Detention Centre as well as working with Trades
Hall Council to bring light to the issue and mobile people around it. We
have had some success so far and it is important, now more than ever, we
keep up the pressure.

All are welcome, including autonomous groups.
