Forest issues high on the WA election agenda

On February 10th West Australian voters will go to the polls. Today on
Earth Matters we speak with Rachel Siewert from the West Australian
Conservation Council about some of the key environmental issues facing
voters and politicans alike.

Recently the WACC drew up an Environmental Charter for WA, aimed at
informing and guiding the various political parties on environmental issues
- today we'll hear the details and the actions of the WACC in the lead up
to Saturday's state election.

Barry the Blue-Billed Duck to target politicians

Queenslanders go to the polls just a week after West Australia, on Saturday
February 17th. Lyndon Schneiders is a long-time campaigner with the
Wilderness Society in Queensland, and today he joins us to discuss
environment issues within the election. Firstly he evaluates the last
couple of years under the Beattie Government, during which some
environmental improvements have been made.

We also hear about how the environment as an election issue is faring; the
types of concerns that the environment movement is trying to get the public
thinking about; the Wilderness Society's 5-seat campaign; Barry the
Blue-Billed Duck and much more!
