Calling on all environmental activists. Logging in a contentious high
conservation value area of the Otways began on Wednesday. Please, if you
can find the space and energy to commit helping out there's a contingent
going down on Thursday evening (Today) for the Friday blockade. See details

WE NEED YOU TO HELP STOP LOGGING IN ICON FOREST IN THE OTWAYS
Wait-A-While is a coupe which is part of some of the most important forest
remaining in the Otways. The area contains old growth Mountain Ash forest,
Cool Temperate Rainforest and is part of one of only 2 sites in the world
containing the tall astellia lily.
The coupe is one of the areas which was negotiated by environment groups
not to be logged, as part of a deal to exclude key areas in the Otways from
logging. In return, we would not obstruct the remaining areas to be logged
during this summer.
THE BRACKS STATE GOVERNMENT HAS NOW BROKEN THIS AGREEMENT
While we have stood our word, over the past month, the State Government has
been pushing to open up one of the contentious areas to logging. We have
refused.
