RALLY IN SUPPORT OF THE STUDENT OCCUPIERS
the M1 Collective is calling a rally outside the Melbourne University
Student Administration building (next to the Law Library) this Thursday 12
April at 1PM in support of the seventy or so students who occupied the
ninth floor exactly one week earlier and face possible criminal charges
and/or academic disciplinary action for fighting back and taking direct
action against the University of Melbourne's destructive agenda of
privatisation, corporatisation and rationalisation. the rally also aims to
build student support for the M1 campaign.
OPPOSE ARCHBISHOP GEORGE PELL'S HOMOPHOBIA
Queers United to Eradicate Economic Rationalism (Q.U.E.E.R.) has called a
rally and action against George Pell and his Catholic Church's homophobia
at St Patrick's Cathedral at mass on Easter Sunday, 15 April. meet at the
Fitzroy Gardens (corner Landsowne and Albert Streets) at 11AM where we will
rally and then march to St Patrick's Cathedral to stage a definitive action
as the mass concludes.
in preparation for M1, Q.U.E.E.R. warns the catholic church that its
homophobia must stop: this demonstration aims to focus on the role of the
church and its hateful leaders like George Pell in the suicides of young
queers from Catholic and other backgrounds, as well as the church's
attempts to control queers' and women's bodies by labelling the use of
condoms and contraceptive devices as immoral activities. don't miss this
opportunity to publicly challenge the church's nuclear-family-focused agenda.
