PUBLIC MEETING TO LAUNCH THE PROTESTS AGAINST THE COMMONWEALTH BUSINESS FORUM

 >From October 3-5 the Commonwealth Business Forum, the largest assembly of
the world's top business leaders and heads of state seen in Melbourne since
S11, will be meeting at the Hilton Hotel.

The O3 to CHOGM Alliance will be launching the campaign against the
Commonwealth Business Forum at a public meeting at:

7.30PM FRIDAY 10 AUGUST
TRADES HALL
CNR LYGON 7 VICTORIA STS
CARLTON

The Commonwealth Business Forum will meet from 3-5 October before going to
Brisbane for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. The centrepiece
of the discussion at the Business Forum will be how to further accelerate
the pace of privatisation of public services such as water, education &
health care and to undermine environmental protection, democratic rights
and workers wages and conditions.

John Howard will address the assembled business leaders at an exclusive
dinner on the evening of Wednesday 3 October, while Jeff (sorry Steve)
Bracks will host another exclusive dinner with them on Thursday 4 October.

Activists in the O3 to CHOGM Alliance who previously organised the S11 and
M1 protests are proposing a three day non-violent blockade to shutdown the
Commonwealth Business Forum. We will be assembling from 7am outside the
Hilton Hotel in East Melbourne, which is just opposite the MCG.
