TREATMENT FACILITIES - INVITATION TO COMMENT

As mentioned in Bulletin No. 51, the Hazardous Waste Siting Advisory
Committee (HWSAC) has received a number of proposals from companies
interested in operating facilities to treat contaminated soil. The
Committee recently concluded its first round of public consultation
meetings in the municipalities potentially affected by the proposals.
Questions and issues raised at the meetings have been recorded and can
be viewed at http://www.omp.vic.gov.au/hazardouswaste . Copies of the
proponents submissions can also be viewed at this address, or in local
libraries and council offices.

Submissions on the current proposals before the Committee are due by 15
February 2002. Send to: The Chairman, HWSAC, Level 18, 80 Collins St,
Melbourne 3000, or email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
It is expected that the second round of meetings will be held in March
2002, at which the questions raised in the first meetings will be
addressed.
