[ forward to like-minded peoples ... ]

For over three decades, West Papuans have endured an illegal and often
brutal occupation by Indonesia's military forces. The plight of the
West Papuan people is similar to that of the East Timorese who voted for
independence in 1999. In 1999, Australian's stood up for the East
Timorese. It is time we did the same for the West Papuans.

As many of you may already know, a series of events to raise the profile
of West Papua and the plight of its peoples will occur in late February.

These events include:

* The Morning Star Concert for West Papua featuring Black Paradise from
West Papua, etc ...

* Launch of a photo-essay book featuring political, historical and
cultural apests of West Papua

* Launch of a CD including music from Warumpi Band, Not Drowning Waving,
Snog, etc...

* A forum to discuss West Papua (speakers include John Rumbiak from Els-HAM)

Funds raised will go to the West Papuan Human Rights organisation Els-HAM.

For information about the events, visit www.morningstarconcert.com or
come to the briefing :)

We will be holding a briefing for media makers from
community/freelance/alternative/independent media about what is planned
for late February and how you can get involved with conducting
interviews, documenting and reporting on the events... Writers, Video
and Radio/Audio makers, Net Broadcasters, Zine-makers, ... ALL WELCOME

When: Wednesday, 12 February, 6:15pm for 6:30pm start
Where: Trades Hall / Evatt Room (Melbourne)

See you on the 12th,

Best wishes, Sam :)
