In

Beste mensen,

Dus: opnieuw
researchen en alles weer inkloppen. Ik verheug me nu al L

Groet, Peter

Michele,

This might be it. I had a power outage last week while the PC was running. I
was not operating the PC at the time. I also do not recall legacy running at
the time. It remains somehow strange that your file can be corrupted so easily
whilst no user activity was taking place.

All in all You have been most helpful. Many thanks.

Peter

PS: and I will now backup everything I do immediately.

Back to researching and re-entering

Peter,

I checked with one of the other techs. He is thinking that maybe you left
Legacy open overnight or while your computer was unattended. If your computer
crashed with the file open it could have corrupted your file. There are
definitely only two people in your file now. This is way it is so important to
back up your file (this is true for any computer program, not just Legacy).
Perhaps you have an old backup you could use or if you have shared your data
with anyone via a GEDCOM file you can get your data back that way.

Michele

Michele,

This was not the answer i was waiting for. What is then in the 1,3 MB? Can
you check with your tech guys?

I have not done anything unusual. I switch between 3 legacy files.

I do not have any backup or gedcoms

So: I will have to do it all over (without knowing what caused this)

Thanks anyway, Peter

Peter,

I am not sure what you have done but your people are truly not there. Do you
have any backups at all? Did you send your file to someone that might have a
GEDCOM? Did you upload your file to any website like Ancestry.com?

Michele

Peter,

I want you to send me a copy of your file. It will have a .fdb extension. It
should be in C:\Legacy\data folder Attach the copy to this email. I will
bring it up on my computer and see if I can figure out what is going on.

Peter,

Let's do a couple of simple things first.

1) Close down Legacy and restart it.

2) Do a check/repair. On the main toolbar select File then File Maintenance
then Check/Repair. If there are any errors, run the check/repair again until
there are no errors.

If this doesn't work do you have a a recent backup that you can use?

Peter,

I want to make sure I am understanding your problem. You opened your file and
all but two people are now missing? You hadn't done anything to your file
since the last time you opened it like restoring from a back up or anything
like that? If you go to the name list what do you see? Are there only 2
people there? If you are seeing all of your people on the name list, but when
you go to the one couple you are talking about and you see no parents or
children, then what has happened in someone has gotten unlinked. Before I tell
you want to do I need to know if you can see your missing people in the name
list.

Michele
