New details, The model 1000 the y axis leadscrew was an option. It came without a split nut. It was a block of delrin tapped for the acme thread. If you wanted to move the y axis freely you would remove one screws and that would set it free. The split nut was yet another option that made using the y axis easier. The source of this information is from a project video that features the model 1000 steel version.
