The pitch is how far the saddle or cutter travels along the mill with one rotation of the work
Example a 1 inch pitch the router will travel 1 inch along the rails as the work rotates around a single turn from 12 o’clock to 12 o’clock . if it was a 2inch pitch the saddle will travel 2inches along the rails in one rotation of the work. There is a chart out there that tells you what gears you put where to achieve this, and you asked about the drive motor if you have one you will use it just to give your arm a rest from cranking but manual cranking works just fine if you don’t Bill From: legacy-ornamental-mills@googlegroups.com [mailto:legacy-ornamental-mills@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Tim Ziegler Sent: Saturday, 15 December 2018 2:46 AM To: Legacy Ornamental Mills Subject: Re: Rope moulding on the wood Chuck/split using paper joint Great information Thanks you guys. I need to start understanding the pitch etc. changing the gear drives etc... Math was never my fortia so I guess one thing is going to lead to another. I need to get educated. I better get back to the shop so I can spend some time experimenting this later evening.I am guessing there are different size indexing hubs etc... Looks like it basically has not been used. I also recently found this forum through reference by Mike Pung as He explained that the WoodChuck is the predecessor to the Legacy which many of you own after reading some of the more recent posts. Once joining I have had several visits with Mike Pung & Curtis George and have enjoyed getting to know both of you guys. Thanks again Mike and Curtis! So looking for some idea's and direction to to create rope moulding and any other moulding even though it will not be very long at the start and considering doing it either 2 or 4 piece with paper glue joints. New machine to me and so all new endeavor for me and my business. These mouldings I want to learn to do on this machine will be applied to the many pieces of furniture I create. Thanks for your input. Kind regard's Tim of ZWW&S -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Legacy Ornamental Mills" group.
