Curtis,

Thanks.  EXELLENT article!

The article seems to show/instruct cutting this particular "Ribbon Twist" from the top - not the side.  I like the idea of tilting the router's base - to produce the "special effect".  Lots of possibilities there - by experimenting with various amounts of "tilt".  Maybe even making some passes with the tilt towards the tailstock and then others tilting towards the headstock - all on the same piece of stock.

Bill, were you referring to a somewhat different "ribbon twist"?

Mac

Yes on a ribbon twist spiral it won’t work from the top only from the side

No - I dd not know that.

Why will it matter/make a difference - top vs side?

It depends on what pitch you wish to make like any other spiral use your gear chart and select it

Hi

On the 10 th Feb aussiman posted some images ,many thanks for them. I noticed one had a ribbon twist and owing to the fact that my good Wife has just bought handles for the kitchen cabinets { expensive )

I wonder what toothed gear do I need on my Revo to have a go at making them ?? If replacements are needed!!!!
