Chains was a misprint. I'll send you a picture of the cain. It was a first try
so I made it a little too short and the handle too thin. Because of the work
that went into it I am reluctant to throw it away.

Russ,

Nice! The last email I sent you - and the previous one you sent out must have
passed each other on the "InterNet Highway" - since I asked/repeated requests I
sent you on Monday.

Now, if there are any Members within a reasonable distance of Dayton, Maryland
- I am hoping they will "chime in" and ya'll can take it from there.

I know there is a "lurker" further out to your west (still in MD - Harper's
Ferry area I believe). Maybe he will drop a note on this message - for you to
respond to.

If you don't mind, and have the time and ability, we would love to see some
photos of some of the canes you made - as well as some of the chains. They
sound like they may have presented you with several "challenges".

Have a Terrific Tuesday!

Mac

I forgot to mention that I've made a couple of chains, one of which was very
successful as it was tapered and had brass tubing at the top and bottom. I
rough cut thr handle on a band saw and shaped on on my router table. I was
pleased with the result.

Hello RK / Mr Corbett,

Where in Maryland do you live?

What model Mill do you have?

Do you have any of the "accessories" that work with your Mill? e.g. Rotary
Table, Template Follower Kit, Linear Molding Kit, etc.

I know there are (were) at least two members of this Group that live in
Maryland.

Perhaps one is within a reasonable distance for the two (or three) of you to
meet up some place.

As several members of this Group have stated, get yourself some inexpensive
wood (like pine from a big box store), glue several up to where you have a fair
size piece, and practice making some columns: taperd, roped, fluted, etc.

Another thing to use it for is to make you own custom trim - like dentil
molding and pilasters.

I encourage you to start watching the various videos that demonstrate the many
ways to enjoy the capabilities of your Mill.

Best of luck.

Mac

I'm interested in finding out how to unsubscribe as I have only used my legacy
to make cains and quarter columns for a chest of drawers I'm working on.
Almost all of what I see on the emails is beyond me. Frankly, the legacy was a
gift from my wife and up until a couple of years ago I never touched a piece
of wood, so I'm not able to exploit this tool to anywhere near its potential.

Of course, if there was someone in Maryland from whom I could take lessons,
that would be appreciated.

Thanks

I see that, what will happen when I go to Alaska for a month? Total chaos? I
have enjoyed the threads, keep up the great work.

Made it home safe, Had a great time with Tim and his WoodChuck as well as the
LOM. His chain drive system really saved some space in a shop crowded with all
the cool tools. Thanks for the hospitality Tim.

Thanks for putting the UTUBE on .Those were the days.

I started with a two man saw on my first tree I cut down, ( and soon bought
my first chain saw!! ) I kept at the logging game for the next 50 years

I felled quite a lot of trees that I was told by the owner had been planted for
the aircraft industry, mainly sycamore , Also did a lot of willow trees that
went to the cricket bat trade.

I enjoyed those days-------sigh sigh!!!!
