You did it exactly as I was attempting to describe (the way I would have made them).
After you complete these 5 knobs, check to see if you should make a second pass with the router - replacing the core bit with one that will knock off the "sharp" interior edges of the spokes (the tops of the U-shaped gaps between the spokes). You can probably do the same to round over the "top & bottom" surfaces of each know in a similar manner - lowering and raising the bit between each knob.

I did notice that your knobs will be "5-spoked" - vs the six the guy in the video did. (noticed the plexiglass pentagon index plate)
In my humble (and novice) opinion, the guy in the video "over-thunk" (Is that a word the Brits will understand?) the process.
