I just imported my database from The Master Genealogist to Legacy a few

move.
As I work my way through it, I would appreciate any tips that anyone has
about how they handle census in Legacy. Since you can't link more than
one
person to the census data (like the Witness function in TMG), do you just
save it to Clipboard, then go to each individual in the census household
and
add the event?
Yes -- that's how I do it. I put the info transcribed in the "notes"
section. I have started doing something a little different now, and don't
know if it will come up and bite me later, for for now its working pretty
well -- hope I can explain it so it's understandable.
I used to cut out the other people in the household and just save the
event with the info specific to that one individual, as this seemed to be
the way most people were doing it. I've started keeping the entire
household in the "notes" section, though.
The way I was doing it before, if I wanted to see who else was in that
household at that time, I had to do a couple of extra steps to see the
entire transcription. This "new" way came in handy just this week when a
lady from England wrote me to ask about a wife -- she wasn't sure if she
had the right maiden name. Just by pulling up "my guy" I was able to see
that he was living with his future wife's family just a few months before
they married. Even though someone else from the U.S. had sent her
information on him, it only included his specific information from the
census, so it wasn't obvious who else he was living with.
I don't know that I've made a great discovery here -- but it works for
me. :-)
Happy Hunting!
