Orientation doesn't affect page size - only layout. It is quite common to have most pages in portrait (higher rather than wide) and occasional pages landscape (wider rather than high) so you can, for example, fit a wider table or chart across the page. The book has to be turned to read those pages, but all pages are the same size.
