Sorry to be pedantic Ron, but that is the whole point of my original post.
I have a number of women for whom I did add married name AKAs as I went.
But I have many others that only have their birth name. In the Index View,
with numerous spouses showing across the columns, I can clearly see whether
I have added a married name AKA for any particular woman. If, as I scroll
through, I find a woman with only one entry but who has one or more husbands
listed in the next column(s) I know that I have to create a married name
AKA, which I can do by accessing the Individual information screen directly
from the Index View. One has to sort by RIN first, so that the names are
listed in RIN order rather than alphabetically – that way I can see all
instances of, for example RIN 10
e.g.
10 SMITH, Mary Jane
10 ~ BROWN, Mary Jane (Mrs) (because I always add the prefix Mrs for married
names)
10 ~ JONES, Mary Jane (Mrs) (if she happens to have more than one husband)

If I haven’t yet entered a married name AKA I will see:

10 SMITH, Mary Jane
11 WHITE, George Whosiwhatsit
etc. etc.

Cheers,
Jan

Jan,

Certainly you can, and whilst I do not have mine permanently set to show
AKAs I do use it from time to time. That is not my point which is: If one
has never set the AKAs to include a woman's married name then the AKAs in
the index list will show nothing. When one has a large number to enter it is
very easy to just enter the name that's on family view and to forget to
check how many husbands there have been.
