I haven't been following closely. Is it possible to move the files from the Flash Drive and open them from her hard drive? Is it possible since she just upgraded that Legacy is looking in the wrong place for the file?

Jack, from previous messages it appears it is only Legacy files, or PDF files created by Legacy, that are giving her fits. It is a simple matter to see if files for other programs (MS Word, etc) can be opened, and if new files from said programs can be written. If the answer is yes, then the problem is not with the flash drive per se. In that case there could be a permissions issue or a read-only attribute specific to a sub-folder on the drive. I have also seen oddball things happen when the folder or files in question were created on a computer running in Administrator mode, then taken to a computer running as a restricted user. In a couple of cases I actually had to use a Windows 2000 machine to gain access to the permissions settings (XP Pro was not nearby, and XP Home does not have the same security tab).

Jill, if your files are in a folder within the flash drive, try checking for the read-only flag on the *folder*, not the files or the full drive.

I also concur with the earlier advice to fully power down the computer, remove the drive, reboot, then reatttach the drive.

Jill

It certainly appears that your flash drive is readonly if you can't save any files on it. Maybe the best thing to do is copy all the files onto your hard
drive and then copy them to a new flash drive.

Hi Ricardo,
I tried as you advised, as below, but that's not the problem, as I
don't have any .ldb extensions.

snip Open Windows Explorer and point to the data folder in flash drive

3) If exists files with .ldb extension delete them.<<<

I can open photos and pdf files etc on the flash, but not my Legacy
family files, fdb ones.

I now find I can't save the family files or new pdf files from Legacy
on the flash drive.
I'm not sure what I can do now so I can view the files from the flash
drive. A couple of files of other families are more up to date than those on

my hard drive and disc.

Thanks for your help,
Cheers,
Jill
