Support told me they gave my observations to the programmers and asked if I would let them have a copy of the file for testing. I haven't heard anything else yet.

Either will avoid the Error 91 message. Not the perfect solution but it works." She has done extensive work on this, backing up in myriad different ways, and reported all to Support. So far, it seems to me that something in the Family View is messing with the backup utility, although not with the temporary backup (made when manual merging). I do hope the programmers are also researching this, now that they have the results of Terri's prodigious effort. I also hope this work-around continues to wirk!
