Except when my surname is different from my Dad's, his surname should show
in the parenthesis, not just his first name which would mean his surname was
the same as mine and that's not right, as I mentioned in my very first
e-mail.

I'm creating a Descendant Report. The names in parentheses comes always in
a
Descendent report to show the ancestry - me, then in parenthesis my dad,
his
mother, her dad, her dad's dad, to the oldest ancestor in that line.

But it's not a bug; it's a standard method for recording descent in a
narrative report that has been in use for decades. At least if I'm
understanding you correctly.
I'd have to do some research to see how the major genealogical
publications handle changes in surname, but I wouldn't want this feature
disabled for most situations. In other words, I don't want the surname to
always be reported in parentheses.
