I can't believe that I overlooked that one setting. I had thought that I had
matched all the settings between the two computers but obviously I had
missed this one.

The selection under "Starting Family File" refers to which database file you
wish to open.  If you have several families you are researching and have

Customize > General > Under  "Starting Family" select Display last viewed
family.  This setting returns you to where you were working when you last
closed the FILE.
