Ron, I had the same problem a couple of days ago, after an unsuccessful new printer installation. When I went into the CONTROL PANEL and then the PRINTER folder, the folder was empty. Even though I has several printers installed.
Go to START and then click on RUN. Enter SERVICES.MSC and enter then scroll down the list that appears until you see PRINT SPOOLER. Right click on it and then PROPERTIES. Make sure that in the STARTUP TYPE it is set it AUTOMATIC. This should fix your problem. As you will probably find that the print spooler was set to "manual" Ron From: Ron and June [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: December 28, 2009 15:54 To: [email protected] Subject: [LegacyUG] Problems starting Legacy Hi, When I start up Legacy (WinXP) I get 10 beeps and then a 'Select Report Fonts' page appears, closing that I then get a message 'Legacy Warning Message' to say that a printer is not defined.... , then program starts up and everything is ok, including being able to print. Any ideas what's gone wrong? This has only happened in the last couple of days since I had a look at one of my older data files that was on a cd (had to transfer to HDD first) Regards Ron Weeks E-mail message checked by Spyware Doctor (7.0.0.508) Database version: 6.14000 http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor-antivirus/ Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
