I am in the process of entering information from a GEDCOM created by a group of German genealogists. It contains approximately 780 families - over 1300 individuals. A lot of the information (i.e. occupations, residencies, marriage notes, citizenships, etc.) is in German and that is what I have been imputing with the English translation following in brackets [ ]. My dilemma is how to reference the translations...about 75% of them were obtained thru Google Language Tools...another 10% to 15% is from a list of German to English word equivalents. I will have to submit the remainder to one of the German genealogy lists I subscribe to as Google just "ain't" making any sense with its translations. Question: would it be "OK" to simply enter a notation in the notes of the events containing translations something like: "Translated through Google" or where ever I got the English equivalent? If it should be sourced...what template (I use Basic).... Please keep in mind...my genealogy is being done for family only...and while I do want to source my work, I also am a firm believer in the KISS method. Please...suggestions of how to handle this would be greatly appreciated. I should also note that what I am translating is rarely more than a short phrase such as "seit 1843 Bürger in Viernheim" or "Taglöhner, Handarbeiter" Looking forward to your suggestions, Virginia
