It may not be the right way, BUT, as a work around I give the "surnames" I don't yet know, "Zebra" or Zelma or something with a "Z" as somewhat of a place holder. That way when I see a "Z" name, I know it means I don't have it yet! This is just my work-around. I hope this helps!
