Bill, Legacy uses Bing for its mapping, it seems natural, to me, for the programmers to use a Microsoft mapping program when the database uses MS Access. There has been previous discussions re Google Earth - see the LUG archives.

Hello, See the last paragraph of the original post. I believe I made the original posting on topic, when in that last paragraph I asked for comments from Legacy regarding whether or not they might use technology like this in future releases of the mapping part of Legacy. The original post was not intended to be offensive or derogatory but was more like "Hey have you seen this option ? and could you use it in future ?" As discussed in previous posts, the mapping part of Legacy does not work well for places outside of America. My initial hope was that this thread could become a discussion of how Legacy might interface with other technology in future, and get some leverage from other existing technology without reinventing the wheel. Whether Legacy or its clients realise it or not, the program does rely upon other software i.e. Microsoft Access database formats, also, I suspect that the mapping software accesses other material not written or owned by Legacy. It is possible that a discussion that helps us all to understand and better use the functionality of the various other software and data that Legacy uses now, or might access in the future, could only be of benefit to both Legacy and its clients. Of course, if Legacy and its users do not want to enter into a discussion, this thread will stop, and people interested in this topic can go elsewhere to discuss better ways of mapping their trees. I think this would be a shame as I believe that open discussion amongst the clients with the service provider present could only be a useful thing. Surely the service provider would value and appreciate feedback from clients even if the feedback is to ask "Hey can you do it like this ?" One of the main reasons I purchased Legacy was the advertised mapping function. For the moment I am off elsewhere to investigate other ways of mapping my data. It's an ideal solution. I wonder why no one mentioned it. Perhaps we should remind people of that option?
