The numbers you’re referring to are RINs, not Henry numbers. They’re assigned
sequentially as you enter individuals in the Family File. MRINs are assigned
sequentially as you enter marriages in the Family File.

If you have a specific numbering system you'd like to use for individuals, we
recommend that you enter those numbers in the User ID field on the Individual
Information edit window. On the views and lists, you can elect to show those
numbers instead of RINs/MRINs by going to Options > Customize > View.

Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Changing the Henry Numbers

I just received a Legacy database from a distant cousin. In order to more
easily compare my database and this new one, I would like to re-designate all
of the Henry numbers in this new file. In my file I am listed as #1. In the
new file, I am listed as #12345. How can I change my designated number to #1
in the new file and have Legacy re-designate all of the other individuals
according to the numbering system. This way I would be able to cross check
individual #40 in both files to see if the information agrees. Make sense?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Bill
