Rob,

I may have unintentionally misled you.

The user defined bit I was referring to is simply a prefix that I put
in front of my Ahnentafel numbers.

I put a B_ in front of my lot and a J_ in front of my wifes lot. This
lets me quickly know where I am if I am deep in the ancestral part of
the tree.

Although I havent done it, I believe that you could also put an extra
digit in front ie the prefix could be B_9 or B_99 etc.

I have not got any raw SQL code for placing an absolutely unique
integer as a user defined number.

The chap who wrote Ltools may be able to help you with a custom sql
query if you contact him it would probably be a tweak of the sql he
has already written and wouldnt be expensive.

Hope this helps and apologies if I got you too excited.

Bill
