Instead go to References (I’m using Word 2007, and References are a separate tab, in 2003 I THINK References is an option under the Insert Menu) there you will find and click on the option to insert index.

Tried to do it with HTML, RTF & text capability but unsuccessful. I mark the spot where it directs to erase the three lines then go to insert>object>text as F1 directs, but nothing happens. I could not find “Inserting Index” within the Legacy “HELP”. Can you please help me?
