That happened to me on both 7.4 updates. Fortunately, I had saved my setup
so all I had to do was load it back up ...

I had also added some columns in the 7.4.0.9 configuration which I believe
were deleted when I installed the update.  I added one back in and tried
clicking the Default button.  Everything changed back to the "squished"
format and the "Age" column disappeared again.  It may have had something to
do with when and how I saved the configuration.  It's Ok now and comes up
correctly at start-up.
