It depends! For starts usually the first place I find it, then usually as many more sources as are required for confirmation. For example, first "discovery" of the name might be in a marriage index, but the person might be listed under a previous married name, so another Source is required for birth surname. Or first Source might give only one forename and other Sources show the person had 2 or more. >2.
