I entered a problem ticket, and received some more info. on this... Exporting using the "Legacy" format option does include MAP, LATI, and LONG for places. So, my statement that getting the data back out is wrong, and I stand corrected.
However, the way they come back out is via some sort of grouping at the bottom of the file under a Legacy specific custom tag called _PLAC_DEFN. Custom tags are of zero value to applications other than Legacy, so the problem still exists. Not getting the data back or getting the data back in an unusable form - they're the same as far as this issue is concerned.
