Thanks to all who replied. I will keep post codes/zip codes out of my location list. This has definitely helped me understand the difference between an address and a location.

Naturally our Post Codes (equivalent to Zip) are used by us for posting mail and maps will find places from them, but for use in a gazeteer of locations, which after all is what the location list is, it is pretty useless. Although it will identify a place down to a few houses when used in a city, the geographic area can be quite large in rural areas. Even worse the first part of the code, which specifies the post office area, can even cover more than one county. For example the prefix "SK" is Stockport, Cheshire, but it covers quite a bit of the High Peak District of Derbyshire.
