Lana,

Welcome to the list and Legacy!

I think of a photograph as a source (like an old letter), not something that
needs to have a citation attached.

What would you include in the citation if you attached a source to it? That it
is a photograph of James Doe, taken about 1952, and you received a copy from
Aunt Marie? I'd put that in the description.

Or, as you've already figured out, you can create a Photographic Event and
attach a citation to that.

BTW, this list requires that posts be in plain text. Please turn off HTML when
posting.

Hello Everyone,

Having been a FTM 2005 user for
years, I finally purchased Legacy and am now wishing I had done it years
ago.  What a difference!  I have also purchased the training DVDs
and manual and am reading through the LUG messages, but I have a few
questions I have not found answers to and I'm hoping experienced users can help
me with.  Here is my question for today:

How do I attach a source to a
picture?

I know how to use the SourceWriter
to make a master source, how to add detail to the master source including a scan
of the item, and how to attach that source with details to an event (such as
sourcing a death certificate to a death date and place), but how do I add a
source when the "event" itself is the photo?

For example, if I scan a bunch of
pictures belonging to my aunt, I know how to insert each picture into the
individual's gallery (or how to use the gallery to easily attach a group picture
to several people), but there is no "source" button to point the source of the
picture back to my aunt.  I can only make a comment when adding the picture
that it was scanned from Aunt Marie's original.

Or... if I download a photo from an
internet site, again, I know how to attach the picture to the person,
and I know how to use the
SourceWriter to make a master source with details including the image for the
internet source, but how do I attach that source to the picture in the
individual's picture gallery?

My best guess was to make a
photo "event" and attach a source with the picture in the detail section, but
that's turning into a mess!  There's got to be a better way.

How do I properly give the source
for a picture?

Thank you,
Lana
