I suppose that, as always, it depends on how you're entering the data
and what you're trying to achieve. You appear to be trying to record
each census as a 'family' event, whilst I would go for an 'individual'
event.

This is for the England & Wales Census but should apply to the US. I
have a single Master Source for each census that was taken (1841, 1851,
1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 and 1911). And I generally use Basic Sourcing.

If I were to record the household details (I don't), I'd create a Census
event under the Marriage Events for for householder. In the event notes,
I'd insert my transcription for the whole family, which would come from
the two pages. I would note in the transcription, where the page break
occurs.

When adding the citation, I'd use my 'standard' Master Source and in the
Source Detail add both page references along with the full
transcription, and add two links to the pages in the Multimedia tab.

As I say, I don't do that. I create a Census event for each individual
in the family. This allows me to copy the event to the Event clipboard
and then paste it as a new event for each member of the family.

I then Cite A Master Source for each event, using the applicable Master
Source. For the details, I record the reference number(s) in the Detail
Information. Repeat the transcription in the Text/Comments. And in the
Multimedia, add a link to the image of the appropriate page. This
citation can be copied to the Source Clipboard (once per page) and then
pasted against all of the Census events (on that page) that I added.

I can then repeat the event process for other events, such as Occupation
and Residence since the same citations applies.
