Bobby, A digital signature is "Data included within a digital document that identifies who produced it. It can also be used to detect and track any changes that have been made to the document." It is used to authenticate the sender and the message. It is entirely un-needed in mailing lists and adds to the bandwidth overhead, negatively impacting those who are on dial-up or limited accounts. "Don't require replies to messages sent to the Legacy Users Group" means exactly that. Do not request read receipts. Again, un-neccesary chaff on a mailing list with the same impact as above. I hope that clears it up a little. -- Gene Young Researching Young, Harer, Cox & Sallada With Legacy Family Tree http://myyoungs.atspace.com/index.htm Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
