David's comment, whilst stictly genealogically accurate, is, in my view, over prescriptive, especially for users who are interested in family relationships, rather than blood lines. In fact given the historically high proportion of children who have been attributed to a spouse as their father, rather than the milkman, I would take bets that pretty well every genealogist has a non-bloodline relative somewhere in their trees.
