I never used FTM so can not help with that part. Do you have a backup?  What
you want to do is import from a export from FTM to Legacy. Have you
successfully imported, but are stuck on the editting/correcting of the data.
The duplications are fixed in Merge, the RIN and MRIN are just (semi-) random
serial numbers, assigned to each person when added to the DB on a next number
basis.
First you must export (other name in FTM?) from FTM, then import to Legacy. If
your FTM file is corrupted: 'my Family Tree Maker 2005 was wrecked and would
not download all my data', you need to deal with that first. Legacy allows
(almost) unlimited number of entries. The size of the DB depends mostly on the
size of your hard drive. I am at 25000 people, but there are some with over
100,000 in this group.

computer

I purchased, online, Legacy 7.4 and found my computer was having too many
problems and my Family Tree Maker 2005 was wrecked and would not download all
my data to Legacy.
I am not able to correct duplications, understand MRIN, RIN etc. and now I have
it all backed up by Carbonite and ready to move. How do I move the program?  I
also exceeded the number of names in FTW.
Thank you,
Kathleen Lampe
